Nurtured Heart/Behavior Management
Our school has implemented the Nurtured Heart Approach for behavior management. With this approach we use positive reinforcement and praise to drive kind, respectful behaviors everyday at school.
When a student makes a bad choice, we ask them to "reset." They go stand by the wall, look at their feet, and think about making a better choice. This only lasts 30-60 seconds. We welcome them back as soon as they are in control, and we watch for positive behaviors to praise!
If a student needs to be "reset" a second time, they go to their seat for a
longer reset. They will also miss 5 minutes of recess.
If a student needs to be "reset" a third time, or does a non-negotiable behavior, such as hitting, punching, kicking, swearing, or choking, then they will receive a red and they will miss recess. They will have an "LSS" (Lunch Success Session) and they will call you to let you know the choices they made.
